blue whale in front of a glacier in the arctic
close up of a polar bear swimming in the arctic. this bear was encountered by our research vessel in the middle of the barentz sea - with hundreds of km south to Spitsbergen and hundreds of km north to the edge of the sea ice. Consequences of melting sea ice in the arctic is that bears cannot get to the ice to hunt. We don't know what happened to this bear.
